Every year, United Way of Southeastern Idaho supports programs at more than 35 agencies throughout Southeastern Idaho -- effective programs that get results.  Below are the outstanding partner agencies funded by UWSEI in 2006.  For details about funding levels, click on "News" to the left.

Provides two homeless facilities (emergency night/day shelters) 365 days a year, transitional housing, case management and financial management assistance. Self-sufficiency programs include affordable child care, payee services, case management, and life skill classes.

Provides 24 hour disaster relief, first aid, water safety, CPR training, aid to servicemen and a blood donor program for all citizens.

Bannock House is an emergency shelter that offers counseling and aftercare for runaway and homeless youth and their families. Outpatient counseling for at-risk youth and their families.

Matches adult volunteers one-to-one with children, ages 6-12, living primarily in single parent families.
 
BINGHAM CRISIS CENTER
Domestic violence shelter and services for victims of domestic abuse.
 
BLACKFOOT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER
Nutrition, Meals on Wheels, activities, and other services for senior citizens.

5,196 youth and 2,806 volunteer leaders participate in the largest youth development program dedicated to character growth, citizenship training and mental/physical development.

Provides professional counseling and supportive services to children and families affected by child abuse as well as community outreach and training on the subject.
 
CAMP FIRE BOYS AND GIRLS   208-232-8819
For boys and girls ages 3-18. Provides coeducational clubs, sports, camp, teen service and after school programs.

Provides year round affordable outdoor recreational facilities for community groups, with emphasis on youth, handicapped and underprivileged in Southeast Idaho.

Recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who are appointed by a judge to speak for the best interest of abused and neglected children in court.
 
COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS   208-237-6318
Support group for bereaved parents, offering friendship, understanding, and fostering the physical and emotional health of bereaved parents. Monthly meeting. Free newsletter published monthly.
 
DAWN ENTERPRISES
Community rehabilitation facility serving 75-100 disabled individuals, teaching independent living skills and providing a disabled recreation program.

The Greater Pocatello Senior Center’s mission is to provide a nutritious, hot noon meal for seniors who are unable either physically or financially to provide for themselves.

Through partnerships with the food industry and support from the local community, The Idaho Foodbank gathers and distributes food and groceries benefiting needy Idahoans.

Builds developmental assets in young people to assist them in becoming successful, responsible, and caring individuals. Operated the Tree House Neighborhood Youth Center located at Washington and Walnut streets.
 
HELP, INC.
Counseling, support and services to children and families who are victims of abuse.  Professional development for child care providers.
 
IDAHO EDUCATION ASSOCIATION CHILDREN'S FUND
Provides clothing, shoes, warm coats, eyeglasses and other unfunded needs for school children referred by teachers.

Provides homebound seniors nutritious, hot meals and a caring visit. Assists clients to retain and remain in their homes, preventing or delaying institutional care that, in most cases, is paid with Medicare/Medicaid dollars.
 
NORTH BINGHAM COUNTY FOODBANK
An all-volunteer foodbank providing a weekly basket of food to people living at the poverty level.

Provides a warm, safe place every school afternoon from 3-5 p.m. for all high school students with adult supervision, tutoring, games, beverages and snacks.
 
POCATELLO FREE CLINIC   208-233-6245  
A dignified environment that provides free primary health care, preventative dental care, and medication for low-income individuals and families with limited or no alternative coverage.
 
POCATELLO HOCKEY ASSOCIATION   208-244-1367  
PHA seeks to expand youth opportunities by building an inline hockey/soccer facility in Chubbuck to foster athletic programs that provide health and physical fitness opportunities.
 
RADIO READING SERVICE
Provides pre-tuned radios and special broadcasts to sight-impaired individuals.  Volunteers broadcast local, national and international news.
 
R.S.V.P. (RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM)- SEICAA   208-233-7364   www.seicaa.org
Provides opportunities to non-profit organizations to use the wisdom and expertise of senior volunteers 55 years and older to meet needs of the community.
 
SOUTHEAST IDAHO COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY
SEICAA helps to alleviate the effects of poverty through programs such as commodity distribution, energy assistance, and gleaning.
 
SHELLEY SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER   
Nutrition, Meals on Wheels, activities, and other services for senior citizens.

The SOPHIA Youth Center provides a safe supervised after school program for middle school children, reducing youth crime and at-risk behavior.
 
SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE IN SOUTHEASTERN IDAHO  208-239-1426  
Works to prevent suicide in Idaho.  Its goals are to develop and distribute a prevention tool kit with intervention strategies, support, and training.

Provides basic and emergency assistance needed by individuals and families including: food, clothing, housing, heating, counseling, transient aid and youth services.
